We choose to promote the idea of the handmade childhood because we believe that anything done by hand has a little more heart, a little more soul and a lot more love. What is our idea of a handmade childhood? One that is hands on! It is as simple as that. We believe in exposing children to style, arts, nature, cooking or anywhere else their interests take them as early as possible!

Our idea of a handmade childhood is to simply begin to observe where you and your littles can step a little deeper into the process of making or understanding the elements + objects you bring into your home, to your table or into your closet. It is meant to inspire + spark imaginations. Not everything can be made from scratch and there is no need to reinvent the wheel, but is there room in your life to get a little more hands on with your kids or offer them something made by hand instead of machine?

The Handmade Childhoods Blog features a variety of stylish + fun brands, projects + photo inspirations. While we feature businesses + collections of all shapes + sizes, from manufactured to handmade, our goal is to curate a collection of inspiring ideas that our readers can apply to their own life + home. Just as life with littles is a balancing act, so is diving into the realm of style, fashion + decor with a focus on sustainable, handmade + ethically manufactured... We are always learning and always trying to find that happy medium. 

Our creative director, Brianne Cara, also owns, designs + directs Fleur + Dot, a line of handmade children's apparel. We know, quite well, the beauty and love that goes into handmade. Handmade, DIY, locally produced, ethically manufactured + sustainable design is our FOCUS, but we reserve the right to bring you design + inspiration in many forms.
